In 2020, Chiharu Kuronuma invited juggler Teruki Okamoto to launch Project I/O. After they joined TPAM and YPAM which had held in Yokohama, the project was curated for presentation at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
In 2022, it participated in festivals across seven cities in five countries, leading to the establishment of the I/O Multimedia Performance Company.The company’s works feature a double bill program: Chiharu Kuronuma’s dance and calligraphy, alongside Teruki Okamoto’s juggling and media art.
These performances have been featured in domestic and international web articles, garnering numerous reviews. In 2023, Chiharu Kuronuma’s solo performance was held at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, receiving reviews from various media outlets including The Scotsman and BBC Radio.
From 2024 onwards, the company will focus on new developments centered around Chiharu Kuronuma’s dance, continuing its activities with this new direction.
